Women’s taster ride

Sunday 10th May saw the first of two Corsham Cycling Club Women’s Taster Rides. Despite the bitterly cold weather conditions we had a good turnout of 16; four of whom were new to the club. All the new cyclists chose to ride the shorter route of 24 miles, meeting halfway at The Flying Monk for a very welcome café stop. The feedback from the ride has been very positive and all the new cyclists are keen to ride with the club again.

A very big thank you to our existing women members who either helped leading on the day, or joined the rides, you were all encouraging and welcoming to the new cyclists and are a credit to our club. We are looking forward to the next Women’s Taster Ride on Sunday 14th June, warmer weather has been booked!

Mechanical evening & kit sale

Following on from positive feedback to the mechanical evening survey we will be putting on an evening to cover basic bike maintenance and dealing with road side issues. It will be led by experienced club riders, thank you to those who have indicated that they are willing to help. Topics to be covered include:

  • dealing with punctures

  • tyre pressures

  • chain maintenance

  • checking brakes

  • what to carry on a ride

In addition we will have club kit available to try on and purchase, what’s available and prices can be found here: club kit.

The event will take place on Tuesday 9th June at 7.30pm in the Methodist United Church Hall, Pickwick Road, Corsham. If possible come on your bike so that you can practice dealing with a puncture.
