Club Kit

Spring has sprung, well at least it did for a couple of days last week, and summer will not be too far behind. Time to get the club jersey out of the drawer and if you haven’t got one to visit the club shop. We have two designs of jersey, the traditional peacock design and the recent design as voted for by members. Both are available in male and female cuts in most sizes. Also available are gilets and cotton and technical t shirts. We want to encourage members to wear club kit on club rides so all club kit is available at a 20% discount until further notice. Details on availability and how to order can be found here; Club kit.

In addition to the above we have long sleeve jerseys, two pairs of bib shorts and two pairs of socks, that have been in stock for many years that we want to clear out. The bib shorts (Endura) are male size small and can be purchased for £40. The long sleeve jerseys are available in various sizes (details in the club shop) and can be purchased for £20. We have one pair of S/M and one pair of L/XL socks that can be purchased for £6.

Mechanical evening

Would you be interested in an evening with fellow club members to learn how to deal with common roadside mechanical issues and basic maintenance? We have a wealth of experience within the club and are proposing an evening where that knowledge can be passed on. Is this of interest? Please complete the survey; Survey

Membership renewal

Just a reminder if you haven’t already done so, that you can renew your membership here.

Split ride - Gloucester Sunday 3rd May

On Sunday 3rd May we have two rides going to Gloucester, to the cathedral and the historic docks. There are lots of options for the café stop either at the docks or close to the Cathedral. We would encourage all riders to wear club kit.

The long ride

Starting from Springfield at 8.00am is 134km with 1043m of climbing (83 miles 3420ft). Part of the route into Gloucester goes along the canal towpath (tarmac) which could be quite busy. Coming out of Gloucester there is a section on cycle paths until it crosses the A38.

The short ride

Starting from Slimbridge at 9am is 60km with 219m of climbing (37 miles 718ft). There is free parking at Slimbridge Parish Car Park, Kingston Road, GL2 7BP. It is 28 miles from Corsham (Springfield) and approximately a 60-minute journey.  There are no toilet facilities and a height restriction of 2.1 metres. Please liaise with other members to share transport.

Part of the route into and out of Gloucester goes along the canal towpath (tarmac) which could be quite busy. The route back includes a section, 3km, along the canal towpath on gravel. It is hard packed, flat and perfectly rideable on a road bike.

Both routes are now available on the club website: route schedule

Women’s Taster Rides Sun 10th May & Sun 14th June

To try and increase female participation on club rides we are having two taster rides specifically for women riders. It would be great if as many female club riders as possible could join the rides. Also please put the word out so that we hopefully get a good turnout. Details can be found here: Women’s Taster Ride.

Green+ weekend Dorchester 19/20th Sept:
