Long Weekend to Belgium in May
The idea is to travel to Belgium on a Thursday afternoon/evening, ride Friday, Saturday and Sunday, returning Sunday evening or Monday morning. Riders would arrange their own transport, accommodation and if necessary, bike hire. It worked well last year for mostly blue/orange riders. This year we want to open it up with more routes to include green+ riders. If you are interested in joining this event or just finding out more, please let us know via the club email here.
Gravel Weekend in June
Two days riding in the New Forest, details to follow when confirmed.
Green Plus Away Weekend September
Following successful weekends based in Malvern, Bicester, Wells and Hereford, the fifth Green Plus away weekend will be based in Dorchester. As the title suggests these rides are suitable for regular ‘Green+’ riders i.e. rides without long steep hills and at a Green+ pace.
Again, we’ll publish more details next month but if you are interested, contact us at corshamcc@gmail.com.
AGM and Survey 2025
A big thank-you to all those who attended the AGM in December and to those who completed the survey and nominated riders for the various awards. The AGM was attended by 26 members. The elected officers for 2026 are Matt Clarke (Chair), Richard Schofield (Secretary) and Richard Davies (Treasurer). The following co-opted roles were also filled: Membership Secretary is Tom White and the Club Captain is Sue Smith.
Awards
The riders of the year awards, voted for by club members were:
Women’s Cyclist of the Year: Sue Smith
Men’s Cyclist of the Year: Richard Schofield
The prestigious Garlic Award, selected by the Club Captain from member nominations was won by Nick Price.
The full minutes of the 2025 AGM are available here.
Annual Survey 2025
20 club members completed the annual survey. Overall, the positive responses greatly outweigh the negative. Key strengths include the routes, the route schedule, the friendliness and inclusivity of the club and its riders. Nevertheless, comments and suggestions for improvement highlight the need that these strengths must be actively maintained. The full survey results and the club committee response can be found here.
The Ride Leads and Emergencies WhatsApp Group
The club has a WhatsApp group that was originally for ride leaders, but that has evolved into a useful channel for general comms and emergency.
Moving forward, we want to use this chat for anyone willing to lend a hand with:
Ride Updates: Helping with occasional weekend announcements or spreading the word on cancellations/changes if no one on the committee is around.
Emergency Support: Helping out in an emergency situation, maybe rescuing someone or their bike following an incident.
Coordinating Sunday Green ride leaders. Just to be clear: being in this group doesn't mean you have to lead Green rides, but this is where we’ll schedule with those that are able to lead.
If you would like to join the group please contact the committee at corshamcc@gmail.com.
